Kindness, empathy, and connection are all at the heart of Learning Care Group’s commitment to families and the community. It’s important for us to support our dedicated LCG employees who give so much of themselves to support the children in their care—every single day.
Operating as a nonprofit organization with 501(c)3 tax status, the LCG iCare Foundation was created in 2016 to support our more than 20,000 LCG team members through short-term financial assistance for unexpected, emergent hardships.
Since its inception, the foundation has provided more than $700,000 in funds to 600 employees for circumstances such as natural disasters, fire, domestic abuse, funeral costs, employee death, eviction prevention, and most recently, utility shutoffs. The foundation is primarily staffed by LCG employee volunteers who are committed to our mission—to care for those who care.
Last month, the iCare Applications Committee and Board of Directors worked diligently to assist our LCG employees in coping with losses suffered due to Hurricane Ian. During the first week after the September 2022 storm, emergency funds of more than $30,000 were granted to 106 employees and their families to assist with purchasing fresh food, clean water, and safe lodging.
Thanks to the support of our generous corporate and employee donors, the foundation has experienced rapid growth and we’ve been able to say, “Yes!” to more applicants requesting emergency financial assistance than ever before.
We’re proud of the work we’ve done to lend a helping hand to our early care educators and support staff and look forward to growing our commitment and reaching even more people in need in the months and years to come.
